A Closer Look: Glenn Fritz

Featuring Glenn Fritz
Property Manager in Charge – SGS Property Services LLC

SGS Property Services contracts with Morgan Legacy Partners to manage MLP’s affordable housing properties in South Carolina.

How long have you been involved with MLP?
One year.

What do you do for MLP?
I manage the affordable housing properties for the South Carolina market.

How and why did you become involved with MLP?
I was contacted about running some background checks only. After meeting with their contact person in South Carolina, I was given the opportunity to manage the South Carolina properties on a trial basis. It didn’t take long for us to figure out that we worked well together and had the same goals for the properties. It’s been a great
partnership.

Tell me about your work history and how you got to where you are now.
I grew up in the restaurant business. My family had a restaurant in Greenville, South Carolina for over 50 years. I went to work for Sara Lee selling food to various restaurants in the Greenville market. After 14 years the restaurant business was calling, and I opened my own restaurant in a nearby town. I eventually sold the restaurant and started to manage some national chains that included Cracker Barrel and Longhorn Steakhouse. At the age of 50 I decided to make a life change. I wanted to do something totally different, so I went back to school and got my property management license and went to work for a local management company. It was a small company but gave me a lot of knowledge and experience. I then went to work for a national property management company, and it helped in shaping the way I operate today. I wanted to start my own company and with faith in myself I opened SGS Property Services. With no clients. But I had faith and it paid off. One client became two clients and we have not
looked back since.

What interests you the most about your current role with MLP?
Finding people a home. It is so satisfying when I do a lease with someone and at the end, I take out the keys, put it in their hands and say, “welcome to your new home.” I enjoy working with MLP because they are about “home.”

When you are not working, what can we find you doing?
I like playing golf. People say it is frustrating, but for me it is very relaxing. For a few hours I am not thinking about my business. I am thinking about my next shot. I also enjoy taking day trips on the weekend with my wife to different places of interest.

Tell us a fun, random fact about yourself!
I once competed in a 24-hour endurance car race. There were 54 teams and our team finished in 18th place. Not bad for the first-time racing.
