Featuring Griffin Dunaway
Advisor (Debt & Equity)
How long have you been involved with MLP?
Nine Months
What do you do for MLP?
I advise MLP on a range of topics with regard to the company’s real estate portfolio, including debt and equity placement, portfolio leverage, asset performance, and property financials. My favorite part about being an advisor to the company is putting time into mentoring individuals going through the Morgan Franklin Fellowship Program, also known as “fellows.”
How and why did you become involved with MLP?
I was introduced to Peter Morgan and Michelle Demirjian through a family friend. From the very beginning, I could tell that MLP was different from other real estate development/investment companies in that the team was working towards a bigger cause than just profits.
Tell me about your work history and how you got to where you are now.
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I worked for Bellwether Enterprise for two and a half years, underwriting and placing debt on various commercial real estate asset types. In July of this year [2020], I began working as a broker for Cushman and Wakefield’s Sunbelt Multifamily Advisory Group. I specifically work with middle market, private capital clients in the Carolinas region.
What interests you the most about your current role with MLP?
I’m very interested in MLP’s expanding affordable housing platform and how it will integrate with MLP’s philanthropic sister company, Morgan Franklin Fellowship in the years to come.
When you are not working, what can we find you doing?
Playing golf with friends and/or family.
Tell us a fun, random fact about yourself!
I am currently learning how to play the saxophone.
